5.2.0 Updated Review: So far I havent had any crashing issues and performance seems mildly improved from 5.1.3. Like 5.1.3, however, websites do still refuse to load their desktop pages automatically with "request desktop site" on and Puffin lacks an option to use iCloud or a proprietary cloud service to save user data. With those two things improved, additional themes, and small performance gains to smooth out webpage jitter Puffin would be top-grade for me. This is an excellent app and Im excited to see more improvements as we move towards big OS changes like the Apple File System (APFS) for 10.3 and a 64-bit standard across the board with 11.0 that could really raise this app to a higher standard.
Also - if there is any way that it could be done, Id imagine many users would appreciate someday having an optional integrated VPN service to allow Puffin servers to mimic location data from individual users to act in place of XFF fields, this way they can avoid login alerts and blocks from certain sites that dont register the forwarded IP information and instead recognize a difference in login location from the norm. Users who wouldnt want the VPN to be associated with them locally but would still like to have the integrated VPN service active could simply establish their own remote VPN address for their devices and thus have the associated location be mimicked through Puffin.
5.1.3 Updated Review: The app seems to be prone to crashing with older devices. Websites frequently load in the mobile version with "Request desktop site" turned on, strongly hindering the more desktop-like browsing experience. A big 5.2/6.0 update is necessary here, complete with new color themes, 1:1 optimization improvements, as well as app data cloud saving for deleting and restoring the app, altogether helping curb the critical consensus that has resulted in a 2-star rating.
Also - the swipe down options to delete page and add page should not require you to swipe right or left hold. You should only have to swipe down and hold to refresh, swiping down and then swiping left or right should not require a hold because it creates an extra step. In reducing steps-to-action an app helps facilitate trust in design via ease-of-use and fluidity. Please apply philosophy to other areas if and as necessary.
5.1.2 Review: An excellent app made better. The 3 new swipe down options are a welcome addition, albeit they could use a little more wiggle room to activate new tab and remove tab functions. My only other request is to eliminate the issue of random page refreshes (which in private browsing signs you out of websites being used) and to improve the fluidity of the app in general. Still worthy of 5 stars, 1/2 star reviews are unfounded and unnecessary.
5.1.1 Review: You wont get a better app for flash browsing, period. Anything less than 5 stars is unfounded. My only recommendation is to find a way to allow access to bookmarks, history, etc without having to open up a new page entirely.
